Riding the Blue Line this weekend? Please plan for 10 to 20-minute delays northbound and southbound as we conduct maintenance on the TRAX bridge that crosses State Street just south of 7800 South.

The southbound track will be closed on Saturday, April 15, and Sunday, April 16. To avoid excessive delays, UTA will use an alternating bus bridge system. Some Blue Line trains will proceed through the construction area. Riders on other Blue Line trains will be transferred to a bus bridge between Midvale Center and Historic Sandy stations. Northbound and southbound Blue Line delays will range from 10-20 minutes. Red and Green lines will not be impacted by construction.

UTA would like to thank riders for their patience as we work to keep the system in good repair. This project is designed to replace the bridge’s plinths, or rail supports. Plinths are used on some UTA rail bridges in place of rail ties. The concrete plinths at the State Street bridge have reached the end of their lifespan and will be replaced with steel plinths, which are much more durable. Plinth replacement on the north side of the track was completed last summer.

This is one of several infrastructure maintenance projects happening this spring and summer. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter for details and potential impacts to service.
