TRAX is getting a smoother grade crossing at 8680 South. This weekend, Saturday August 5 and Sunday August 6, construction crews will be working to replace the grade crossing panels at the crossing in Sandy to make the roadway smoother for motorists who drive over the tracks. Grade crossings are the areas where roadways cross railroad tracks, and they tend to wear out quicker because of the vehicle traffic that travels over them.

Construction will create some impacts for motorists and TRAX riders. The crossing will be closed this Saturday and Sunday to motorists, and TRAX riders should expect minor Blue Line delays of five to 10 minutes.

In addition to delays, TRAX riders boarding at Historic Sandy and Sandy Expo stations will have to board at certain sides of the platform on each day. Signs will be placed on the platforms to help direct riders.

Saturday, August 5

Trains in both directions will board/alight on the east side of the platform at Historic Sandy (9000 S.) and Sandy Expo (9400 S.) stations.

Sunday, August 6

Trains in both directions will board/alight on the west side of the platform at Historic Sandy (9000 S.) and Sandy Expo (9400 S.) stations.

This is part of UTA’s continuing effort to keep the TRAX system in a state of good repair. Check back here and follow us on Facebook and Twitter for more information about upcoming state of good repair projects.
