UTA has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), a major trade association for more than 19,000 state and local government officials and finance professionals. This is the 19th time the organization has presented UTA with the honor.

To be recognized, an entity must meet 14 mandatory criteria as well as guidelines in four subject areas. These requirements are designed to assess how well an organization's budget serves as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide and communications device.

According to the GFOA, the award represents a significant achievement. It reflects the commitment of the governing body and its staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting. Award recipients are recognized for their efforts to improve the quality of budgeting and provide an excellent example for other governments throughout North America.
