The Utah Transit Authority, Taylorsville City, Murray City, Salt Lake Community College, Salt Lake County, the Wasatch Front Regional Council, and the Utah Department of Transportation have been working together to prepare a Draft Environmental Study Report (ESR) for the Taylorsville-Murray Transit Project. The ESR describes the environmental impacts and identifies potential mitigation measures associated with the proposed Taylorsville-Murray Transit Project that extends into the cities of Taylorsville and Murray located in Salt Lake County, Utah.
The Proposed Action includes a bus rapid transit line that travels from the Murray City Center just north of the Intermountain Medical Center in Murray to the Murray Central TRAX and FrontRunner stations and then west to Salt Lake Community College on Redwood Road located in Taylorsville City. The project is 4.4 miles long and includes 1.5 miles of exclusive bus lanes; the majority of the exclusive lane is center running and located on 4700 South. The project will also include eight new stations for the bus rapid transit line. The main purpose of the project is to provide a reliable, efficient transit connection between the Murray Central TRAX and FrontRunner stations to the Murray City Center District and the Salt Lake Community College.
A 30-day public comment period for the ESR will begin on May 5, 2013 and conclude on June 4, 2013. Written comments on the document must be postmarked by June 4, 2013.
