To prepare for the opening of both FrontRunner South (Dec. 10, 2012) and Airport TRAX (April 2013), UTA is proposing a series of service adjustments for Dec. 9, 2012, in Salt Lake and Utah counties.

Public hearings will be held to discuss these proposed changes and gather feedback. Five hearings will be held at separate locations, along with a Twitter chat.

Overview of Proposed Adjustments

Rail Service

Effective Dec. 10, 2012, FrontRunner South commuter rail service will run between Provo and Ogden, Utah.

Salt Lake County service and alignment changes:

Effective Dec. 9, 2012, UTA proposes Salt Lake County routes 6, 209, and 500 will be re-routed to serve the new FrontRunner North Temple station.

Additionally, routes 519 and 520 will be replaced with routes 506, 510 and 512. Routes 3, 54, 209, 218, 248, 517 and 550 will also have routing changes.

Route 347 will be replaced with route 534.

Additional time changes and service hour changes will be made to improve reliability and connectivity at major transfer locations in Salt Lake City and Salt Lake County.

Utah County service and alignment changes:

Effective December 9, 2012, UTA proposes all Utah County express bus routes including routes: 801, 802, 803, 804, 805, 806, 807, 810, and 817 to and from Salt Lake County will be replaced with FrontRunner rail service.

Also, route 808 service to UVU will be provided by a modified route 805.

All other Utah County routes will undergo modifications to better align the local service to cover more areas in Utah County and to make connections to the new commuter rail service. Proposed routes 805, 806, 807, 809, 811, 821, 830, 831, 832, 833, 834, 836, 842, 850, and 853 will connect to the commuter rail at one of the new commuter rail stations in Utah County.

Utah County bus expansion:
Expanded bus service is proposed in Lehi, Eagle Mountain, Saratoga Springs, Orem, Provo, Springville, Spanish Fork, Payson and Santaquin areas.

These meetings will be held in an open house format. UTA staff will be on hand to field one-on-one questions the public may have before submitting their comment.
