It’s May, which means that the birds are chirping, the flowers are blooming, and it’s time to dust off your bicycle and celebrate Utah Bike Month.

UTA supports Utah Bike Month as a way to help reduce traffic and improve air quality. The following activities are sponsored or supported by UTA. You can view a full list of Bike Month activities here.

May 7 – Salt Lake County and Salt Lake City Mayors’ Bike to Work Day.

Bike to work with Salt Lake County Mayor Ben McAdams, Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker, and other government officials. The ride starts at 7:30 a.m. at Liberty Park and continues to the Salt Lake City and County Building.

May 14 – UTA Bike to Work Day in Provo

Enjoy a morning ride with Provo Mayor John Curtis starting at 7:30 a.m. at the Historic County Courthouse, 51 S. University Ave.  The first 50 participants will receive a free adult bicycle helmet, and there will also be free tune-ups, food and a drawing for a free bike, sponsored by Provo City and the Provo City Bicycle Committee.

May 15 – UTA Bike to Work Day in Springville

Join us for the first-ever Springville Bike to Work Day. The ride starts at the Springville Civic center at 7:30 a.m. and includes free food and bike swag, free bike-tune ups and free bike helmets for the first 50 participants.

May 16 – UTA Bike to Work Day in Orem

Meet at City Center Park at 100 North 300 East in Orem for a free pancake breakfast, free bike tune-ups, adult bicycle helmets for the first 50 participants and a bike ride with Orem Mayor Jim Evans.

May 17 – Annual UTA Bike Bonanza

Join UTA at Gallivan Plaza from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 17 for the 18th Annual UTA Bike Bonanza. The event will include free food, live music, a childrens’ bike rodeo, a bicycle fashion runway show, and a free raffle with prizes like bikes, gear bags, and more. UTA Transit Police will sharing information about Operation Lifesaver and transit safety. The first 75 children at the event will receive a free helmet and free water bottles will be given to the first 300 people at the event.

May 17 – Ogden Mayor’s Bike to Work Day

Meet at Weber State University’s A-1 parking lot for a free UTA-sponsored breakfast and a bike ride with Mayor Mike Caldwell. Post your pictures on Ogden City’s Facebook page for a chance to win free prizes.

May 17 – Eliminating Barriers to Cycling

Bicycling enthusiasts will meet in Riverdale at the upper pavillion of Riverdale Park, 4360 Parker Drive, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. to discuss safe bicycling practices and common misconceptions about biking. The event is hosted by private citizens and supported by the Ogden Cycling Education Foundation, Bingham Cyclery, 50-50 BMX, and Ogden City.
