FrontRunner riders traveling between Salt Lake City and Ogden may notice delays over the next several weeks. Union Pacific is replacing railroad ties and conducting maintenance work on select rail crossings. Because of the proximity of Union Pacific’s track to UTA’s FrontRunner alignment, FrontRunner trains will slow to 40 miles per hour as they proceed through the construction area, possibly resulting in delays. UPDATE: Maintenance work is expected to take place between June 16-June 23, June 30-July 9 and July 16-July 23. A possible fourth round of construction may needed in August.

Union Pacific work is scheduled between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. and will not affect morning commuters. Federal regulations will require FrontRunner operators to sound train horns as they travel through areas where construction is taking place. This is a safety procedure designed to protect workers in the rail corridor.

We appreciate your patience as this work begins. If you have questions, please contact us on Twitter or call customer service at 801-RIDE-UTA.
