UCAIR, the Utah Clean Air Partnership, is working to educate Utahns about easy choices that can result in better air quality. One way to help clear the air is by leaving your car at home and riding UTA. Our rail and bus riders eliminate 2,000 tons of smog-creating net criteria emissions each year – enough to fill more than 150 city garbage trucks.

Check out the UCAIR website to try their clean air calculator, which estimates how many pounds of emissions you’ll save each week depending on how often you ride transit. You can also learn how much pollution you’ll prevent by adding riders to your carpool, turning down the thermostat or putting out a wood-burning fire. There’s even a “choose your own adventure”-style video that allows you to explore the good – or bad – outcomes of your air quality choices.

For more information on how you can help keep our winter air clean, visit UCAIR or check out UTA’s air quality brochure. Check back here for more clean air tips, and follow us on Twitter at @rideuta for reminders to #RideUTA on poor air quality days.
