Few things are more annoying than locking your keys in your car or having a dead battery, especially at the end of your commute. Now, UTA’s transit police are offering riders a free car unlocking and battery jumping service.

“People are parking their cars to use our trains,” UTA Transit Police Chief R. Fred Ross said. “The last thing we want is for riders not to be able to get where they need to go when they get back to their cars. That’s what we’re in business for – making it easy for people to get from Point A to Point B.”

Riders can call Transit Police at 801-287-EYES (3937) for assistance. The service is available to cars parked at any UTA station or Park & Ride lot during the following hours:

Lockout and Battery Service Hours

Monday – Thursday: 5:30 a.m. to midnight

Friday – Saturday: 5:30 a.m. to 1 a.m.

Sunday: 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.

In May, UTA Transit Police will also move from their current location at Central Pointe Station to a facility near Murray Central Station. This facility will allow officers to easily access both FrontRunner and TRAX and better accommodate parking needs.
