You’ve got a few more weeks to enjoy 15-minute service on route 500. This extra service was added for the 2018 legislative session, but you don’t have to be a lawmaker or lobbyist to ride. Check out some of the places you can visit on route 500 below, but hurry – the route will return to 30-minute service on March 9.
Route 500 is located in our Free Fare Zone, so there’s no need to purchase a ticket to ride.* The route connects with the TRAX system at Courthouse and North Temple Stations, or to FrontRunner at North Temple Station. Please note that Route 500 runs on weekdays only.
Tour the Utah State Capitol
Enjoy a free tour of the historic Utah State Capitol. You can drop in on a guided tour, make a reservation to explore artwork and exhibits depicting historical Utah women or take the kids on a Capitol scavenger hunt. Admission and tours are free. Visit the Pioneer Memorial Museum
Take a trip back in time at the Pioneer Memorial Museum. The museum showcases clothing, tools, wagons, handcarts and other artifacts painstakingly transported thousands of miles as pioneers trekked to Salt Lake City. If you’re in the mood for something a little more unusual, it’s also home to an extensive collection of pioneer artwork made from human hair. The museum is located at 300 N. Main Street and is free. Explore the Family History Library
With 1.4 million rolls of microfilm, 550 guest computers and 600,000 books, newspapers and maps, this isn’t your average library. The Family History Library, located at 35 N. West Temple, is designed to help you explore your family tree. You don’t have to be a genealogy pro to visit – the library features a Family Discovery Center where anyone can drop in to learn a little more about their heritage.
