Attention Red Line riders – temporary changes are coming to your weekend TRAX travel, starting in late September.

The Utah Department of Transportation is widening 7200 South west of I-15. This work will require construction on a Midvale rail bridge that spans 7200 South east of 700 West. The bridge will be closed to TRAX trains on select weekends during this construction work, and bus bridges will be used during those times to transport riders between Historic Gardner, Bingham Junction and Fashion Place West stations. During the closures, UTA employees will be at all three stations to help riders and assist with bus bridge connections.

The first weekend closure is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 29 - Sunday, Sept. 30. In total, up to a dozen weekend closures will be necessary before construction is complete. Although weather and other conditions could impact the schedule, the 2018 closure schedule currently includes Oct. 13 -14, Oct. 27 - 28, Nov. 3 - 4, and Nov. 17 - 18.  The 2019 dates are still being determined.

We’ve selected weekend closures on dates that minimize the impact to riders. Closures during high-ridership days like University of Utah football games, holiday celebrations and other popular downtown events were avoided when possible.

Stay tuned for more information as the construction dates approach. If you have questions or concerns, contact us on Facebook or Twitter, or leave us a question below.
