FrontRunner Engineer, Cory Mohl, nominated Marjohna Madsen for October Rider of the Month. “I nominated Marjohna because she makes the train crew feel appreciated,” says Engineer Mohl. “I like interacting with the passengers on my trains, and making their journeys as enjoyable as possible. Riders like Marjohna, makes me truly feel like I am making a difference in the community through her kind smile and words.”

1 – How long have you been riding?

Marjohnna has been riding FrontRunner from Stapleton to Bountiful for the past five-and-a-half years. “I am truly grateful for the train,” says Ms. Madsen. “It saves me time in traffic, plus it gives me time to read books, sleep or meet new people.” She loves that she can park her car at the Woods Cross Station to whisk her to and from Liberty Hills Academy where she teaches 7th and 8th grade.

2 – Why do you ride?

“I ride the train so I can meet new people. Riding the train is my social life. I love getting to know the train hosts, engineers and fellow riders. I have made a lot of new friends thanks to FrontRunner.”

3 – Any tips or suggestions for riders?

Marjohnna counsels people to ditch their car and ride the train. “Cars are so expensive with loans, insurance, gas and maintenance. I guarantee you will feel that same moment of freedom that I did when you’re not stuck in traffic. Any time I have to drive my car, I utterly hate it. Just give UTA a try. You won’t regret it.”

If you see Marjohnna at Wood Cross Station say hello and maybe make a new transit friend.
