Our trick or treat bag this year is stacked full of transit tools. We’re taking this alliteration moment to remind you about all the transit tools and rider improvements UTA has put into practice over the last year or two.

1.    Transit app

Transit is UTA’s preferred trip planning tool but it goes well beyond trip planning. Here are a few other things Transit can do for you:

By opting into the Go feature you can receive step by step notifications and instructions for completing your trip.

Once on your vehicle you can let others know how crowded it is.

You can also opt in for push notification Service Alerts on your favorite routes, or just check your route to see if it’s off its regular service in any way.

And now… for Election Day, you can you use Transit to find polling places and routes that serve those locations. Don’t forget Election Day, November 3, will be a free fare day to help increase access to voting for everyone.

2.    Service Alerts (Text and Email)

You can now subscribe to receive Service Alerts via email or text for the routes you use. This tool is particularly helpful for our regular bus riders. If you know your route but sometimes it experiences detours because of snow, police activity, or construction, this is for you. Sign up at rideuta.com/signup or learn more about Service Alerts at Get Service Alerts Delivered to Your Phone.

3.    Simpler Fare Structure

Not really a tool, but this makes it a bit easier to ride… After a year+ long process our Fares Team has been able to streamline and simplify our fare structure. Now everything is based off of our unchanged base fare of $2.50. For example our day pass went from $6.25 to $5 (2 x $2.50). One of changes is a reduced fare for Youth Monthly Pass (now discounted 50%, similar to our Senior Monthly Pass). So tell your niece, nephew, younger sibling that using UTA just got a little more affordable.

4.    Expanded Customer Service

Over the summer we expanded our Customer Service hours. Now you can find support on Twitter @RideUTA and with our Customer Support team via  801-743-3882 on Sundays from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.

5.    Improved Signage

In the vein of “easier to ride” our new bus stop signs have been installed at 123 stops and continue to be rolled out across the system one route at a time. These new, larger signs feature more information about your route — including a timetable and map at high ridership stops.

6.    UTA GoRide app

If you’re not a regular rider or perhaps you have transit-friendly friends and family that visit you regularly, our UTA GoRide app is still a reliable place to purchase fares on the fly.

If you have feedback or questions on any of these, send us an email rideuta@rideuta.com.
