UTA is offering extra service to the Utah State Capitol during the legislative session. The "500 Special – Capitol Connector" will run between the FrontRunner North Temple Station, the TRAX Courthouse Station and the east side of the capitol building, giving riders a convenient way to take transit to the capitol this session.

Service on the Capitol Connector will start Monday, Jan. 25, in conjunction with the start of the 2016 General Session and will end after it concludes on Thursday, March 10. The temporary route is designed to provide an alternative to limited Capitol Hill parking and encourage both lawmakers and citizens to participate in clean air practices.

"The legislative session is often held during a time of winter inversions which can result in poor air quality,"said UTA Interim President and CEO Jerry Benson. "We hope that this extra service will give people an opportunity to try UTA and encourage them to make public transportation part of their everyday lives."

The 500 Special Capitol Connector will run in conjunction with the regular route 500. The two routes will combine to create 15 minute service along much of the route. The 500 Special is designed to meet with TRAX trains at Courthouse Station and North Temple Station, allowing riders to easily connect to the capitol from the Red, Green or Blue TRAX lines. It will serve North Temple Station but not Salt Lake Central Station. The regular route 500 serves North Temple and Salt Lake Central stations and is timed to facilitate connections with FrontRunner. Riders can view the 500 Special schedule here or use UTA’s Trip Planner to plan their trip.
