Environmental Management System (EMS)

UTA’s EMS is a proven, effective organizational tool that provides a framework for managing the agencies environmental responsibilities.  UTA’s EMS does this by identifying harmful environmental impacts from our projects, services and activities.  Once identified, the EMS finds ways to resolve and prevent those activities from having a negative impact on the environment.  By having a tool to systematically and effectively manage and measure environmental impacts, UTA is able to improve overall performance as an agency and integrate environmental responsibilities into daily business operations.

UTA’s EMS allows all employees to share in this important responsibility.  Members of UTA’s team who have duties that may cause an impact to the environment have received training to understand, manage and prevent those impacts from causing negative impacts.   In addition, having an EMS increases fuel economy, recycling revenue and cost savings.  The EMS also increases trust and satisfaction from customers, better working conditions for employees and makes UTA a better neighbor in the community.
