Professional Former Presiding Bishop for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints responsible for the construction of over 100 new temples throughout the world and a new administration building in Hong Kong; formerly worked for Kennecott Copper Corporation and the Utah State Tax Commission.
Civic Served for many years as the Church’s representative for community and civic matters relating to Salt Lake City.  Was instrumental in the development of the historic City Creek Parks and the establishment of the TRAX light-rail system.  Founding member of the Downtown Alliance, serves on the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce and participates as a board member of the World Trade Center Utah.  Demonstrated remarkable leadership and vision in the design and construction of the Church’s Conference Center, the relocation of the LDS Business College and the establishment of the BYU-Salt Lake City Center and development of Salt Lake City’s new City Creek Center project.

Civic Actively involved in the community, Sheldon has served as a board member for the South Davis Chamber of Commerce, served on the founding board of the Davis Convention & Visitors Bureau and was instrumental in the process of merging the three Chambers of Commerce in Davis Count.
Governor Leavitt appointed Sheldon to the Utah State Senate to represent District 21, filling a vacancy.  He was re-elected in November of 2004 and again in 2006.   He was elected into Senate Leadership after three years and was the Senate Majority Leader when he left the Senate in 2010.  He spent most of his time on committees involving Transportation, Health and Human Services, and Business and Labor.   He has also served on the Board of the North Davis Hospital and Medical Center, a Board Member of the Utah Defense Alliance, the Davis Convention and Visitors Bureau and the United Way of Salt Lake Executive Steering Committee and Co-Chair of the Utah Sports Commission.
