Construction Update

Welcome! Construction progress continues on the Sugar House Streetcar line. Groundbreaking on the Sugar House Streetcar line took place in May 2012 and construction is anticipated to be complete by late 2013.

Access During Construction
UTA is committed to maintaining access to all businesses and residences along the construction corridor.
Construction Hours
Construction on the project is permitted to take place between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday each week. Additionally, specific activities may require different working hours depending upon the conditions and will be coordinated with city officials. Please note that construction information is subject to change without notice.

Area 1: Crews will install station canopy footings at the end-of-line transfer station platform. Over the Memorial Day weekend, crews will construct a crossover track and tie the streetcar line into the existing TRAX line. Retaining wall construction and OCS pole installation will continue in the area.

Area 2: Crews will string overhead wire from OCS poles between West Temple and 200 East. Crews will continue working on 200 East crossing improvements this week.

Area 3: At 300 East, crews will continue working on traffic signal foundations. At the 300 East station, crews will install canopy footings.

Area 4: Work on cast-in-place retaining walls between 600 East and 700 East continues this week.

Area 5: Crews will work on an irrigation line at 1000 East.

Traffic Impacts and Restrictions
Traffic, Business and Pedestrian Access are Being Maintained Throughout the Project
The following restrictions are in place:
200 East will be closed to through traffic between Wentworth Ave. and Truman Ave. from Monday, May 13 to Wednesday, May 22.
