    NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
    UTAH TRANSIT AUTHORITY

    RE: Proposed December 2012 Service Changes

    UTA is proposing several service changes to bus service in Utah and Salt Lake counties. Public hearings will be held to discuss these proposed changes. Five hearings will be held at separate locations. Most changes are being proposed due to the expansion and start up of the FrontRunner South commuter rail train.

    At the hearings, the Utah Transit Authority will provide an opportunity for citizens, private transportation providers, public officials and interested agencies to comment on the proposed changes. To be included as part of the Public Hearing record, all comments must be postmarked or received by UTA no later than August 31, 2012.

    THE FORMAT FOR THE PUBLIC HEARINGS WILL BE AS FOLLOWS:
    The meeting will be held under an Open House format to review and discuss the proposal with UTA representatives. Individuals can ask specific one-on-one type questions with UTA staff members before turning in their public comment.

    To assure full participation at the hearing, accommodations for effective communication such as sign language interpreters or printed materials in alternative formats, or a language interpreter for non-English speaking participants, must be requested at least five (5) working days prior to the date of the scheduled event. Requests for ADA accommodations should be directed to UTA ADA Compliance Officer at 801-287-3536 or dial 711 to make a relay call for deaf or hearing impaired persons.     PROPOSALS ARE AS FOLLOWS:
    Rail Service: Effective December 9, 2012, FrontRunner South commuter rail service will run between Provo and Salt Lake City, with connections to Ogden, Utah.

    Service reductions and alignment changes:
    Effective December 9, 2012, all Utah County express bus routes including routes: 801, 802, 803, 804,805, 806, 807, 810, and 817 to and from Salt Lake County will be discontinued. Also, route 808 service to UVU from South County will be provided by a modified route 805.

    All other Utah County routes will undergo modifications to better align the local service to cover more areas in Utah County and to make connections to the new commuter rail service. Proposed routes 805, 806, 807, 809, 811, 821, 830, 831, 832, 833, 834, 836, 842, 850, and 853 will connect to the commuter rail at one of the new Commuter Rail Stations in Utah County.

    Effective December 9, 2012, Salt Lake County routes 6, 209, and 500 will be re-routed to serve the new FrontRunner North Temple station. Additionally, routes 519 and 520 will be eliminated and replaced with routes 506, 510 and 512. Routes 3, 54, 209, 218, 248, 517 and 550 will also have routing changes. Route 347 will be eliminated and replaced with route 534. Additional time changes and service hour changes will be made to improve reliability and connectivity at major transfer locations in Salt Lake City and Salt Lake County.

    Additional information items:
    Expanded bus service is proposed in the Lehi, Eagle Mountain, Saratoga Springs, Orem, Provo, Springville, Spanish Fork, Payson and Santaquin areas.

    Informational items:
    Relevant information about the proposed changes will be available at the Public Hearing or may be reviewed at the UTA Orem office, 1110 South Geneva Road or at UTA’s downtown Salt Lake City office at 669 West 200 South, until 5 p.m. on August 31, 2012. Comments must be postmarked or received by UTA no later than August 31, 2012 to be part of the Public Hearing record.

    Route 347
    The route 347 an express route, is proposed to be eliminated and replaced with shuttle route 534.
    Route 519
    The route 519 is proposed to be eliminated and replaced a combination of new routes. New routes being the 506, 510 and the 512.
    Route 520
    The route 520 is proposed to be eliminated and replaced a combination of new routes. New routes being the 506, 510 and the 512.
    Route 3
    The route 3 alignment is proposed to be modified.The purpose of this modification is create connecitivity for customers to and from the FrontRunner and TRAX.The changes are that the alignment will no longer service South Temple, State Street and 200 South between State Street and West Temple. The new route alignment will service 2nd Avenue going Eastbound and 3rd Avenue going Westbound between E Street and State Street. Also service North Temple between State Street and West Temple and then service West Temple between North Temple and 200 South. The route will terminate at Salt Lake Central Station.

    Frequency/trips: Weekday 30-minute service from 6 AM to 7 PM. Saturday 45-minute service. No Sunday service.

    Route 6
    The route 6 alignment is proposed to be modified.The purpose of this modification is create connecitivity for customers to and from the FrontRunner and TRAX.The changes are that the alignment will no longer service State Street from North Temple to 100 South. Instead the route will travel between B Street and State Street on 3rd Avenue going Westbound and on 2nd Avenue going Eastbound. From State Street the route will travel down North Temple to 300 West, North on 300 West to 300 North, travel on 300 North to a new road being constructed at 500 West and terminate at the New North Temple Station. There will be access to FrontRunner and future Airport TRAX line.

    Frequency/trips: Weekday 30-minute service from 6 AM to 7 PM with 60-minute service from 7 PM to 10 PM. Saturday 60-minute service. No Sunday service.

    Route 54
    The route 54 alignment is proposed to be modified. The purpose for this route modification is to improve connectivity between the routes 54, 217 and 218. Do to the construction of a Continuous flow intersection at Redwood Rd and 5400 South the route is proposed to change alignment between 1500 West and 1900 West. The route will travel South on 1500 West from 5400 South to 5600 South, West on 5600 South from 1500 West to 1900 West, North on 1900 West from 5600 South to 5400 South. Then the reverse for the opposing direction.

    Frequency/trips: Weekday 30-minute service from 6 Am to 7 PM with 60-minute service 7 PM from 10 PM. Saturday 60-minute service. No Sunday service.

    Route 209
    The route 209 alignment is proposed to be modified. The purpose of this modification is create connecitivity for customers to and from the FrontRunner and TRAX. The route will no longer service State Street between South Temple and 100 South. The route will travel North on State Street from South Temple to North Temple, From State Street the route will travel down North Temple to 300 West, North on 300 West to 300 North, travel on 300 North to a new road being constructed at 500 West and terminate at the New North Temple Station. There will be access to FrontRunner and in the future, the Airport TRAX line. Then the reverse for the opposing direction.

    Frequency/trips: Weekday 15-minute service from 6 AM to 7 PM and 30-minute service from 7 PM to 11 PM. Saturday 30/60-minute service. Sunday 60-minute service.

    Route 218
    The route 218 alignment is proposed to be modified.The purpose of this modification is to prepare for the opening of the Airport TRAX Line. The route would no longer service North Temple and no longer continue on into Downtown Salt Lake City. The route would terminate at the State Office Complex at 1950 West. From current routing on Redwood Road the route would travel West on North Temple to 1950 West, North on 1950 West and terminate at 250 North.Then the reverse for the opposing direction.

    Frequency/trips: Weekday 30-minute service from 6 AM to 10 PM with 60-minute service after 7 PM. Saturday 60-minute service. No Sunday service.

    Route 248
    The route 248 alignment is proposed to be modified. The modification of the route is for the purpose of servicing Copperhills High School. The route would no longer service 4800 West between 7000 South and 9000 South. From 4800 West the route would travel West on 7000 South to Grizzly Way, South on Grizzly Way to 9000 South, East on 9000 South to Old Bingham Hwy, South-West on Old Bingham Hwy to the 4773 West Old Bingham Hwy Station where the route would terminate.

    Frequency/trips: Weekday 30-minute peak hour service and 60-minute off peak service from 6 AM to 8 PM. No Saturday or Sunday Service.

    Route 500
    The route 500 alignment is proposed to be modified.The purpose of this route modification is to distribute passengers from FrontRunner and TRAX throughout Downtown Salt Lake City. The routing would travel out of Salt Lake Central Station, East on 200 South to 400 West, South on 400 West to 400 South, East on 400 South to State, North on State Street to North Temple, West on North Temple to Main Street, North on Main Street to Columbus Street, North on Columbus Street to 500 North, East on 500 North to State Capital Blvd, South on State Capital Blvd to 300 North, West on 300 North to Main Street, South on Main Street to North Temple, West on North Temple to 300 West, North on 300 West to 300 North, travel on 300 North to a new road being constructed at 500 West and terminate at the New North Temple Station. There would be access to FrontRunner and future Airport TRAX line. Then the reverse for the opposing direction.

    Frequency/trips: Weekday 15-minute service from 5 AM to 8 PM. No Saturday or Sunday service.

    Route 517
    The route 517 alignment is proposed to be modified. The purpose of this modification would be to integrate the community with the future Airport TRAX line. The route would start on Cornell St, travel South on Cornell Street to North Temple, East on North Temple to 1950 West, North on 1950 West to 250 North, East on 250 North to Doralma Street, North on Doralma Street to 400 North, East on 400 North to Star Crest Drive, North on Star Crest Drive to 1100 North, North-West on 1100 North to Morton Drive, North on Morton Drive to Mandalay Road, North on Mandalay Road to Morton Drive, North on Morton Drive to 1700 North, East on 1700 North to Redwood Road, South on Redwood Road to 1100 North, West on 1100 North to Star Crest Drive, South on Star Crest Drive to 400 North, West on 400 North to Doralma Street, South on Doralma Street to 250 North, West on 250 North to 1950 West, South on 1950 West to North Temple, East on North Temple to Garside Street, North on Garside Street to Cornell Street and the terminate route at Cornell Street.

    Frequency/trips: Weekday 30-minute service from 6 AM to 7 PM and 60-minute service from 7 PM to 10 PM. Saturday and Sunday 60-minute service.

    Route 550
    The route 550 alignment is proposed to be modified. The purpose of the modification is to replicate the service that the Airport TRAX line will be providing in the future. The stops for this route will coincide with the stations along North Temple. Until then this route would be acting as the connection between Downtown Salt Lake City to North Temple, the Airport and the International Center. The route would come out of Salt Lake Central Station, travel on 200 South to 300 West, North on 300 West to North Temple, West on North Temple out to the Airport and continue on to the International Center for selected trips. Then the reverse for the opposing direction.

    Frequency/trips: Weekday 15-minute from 6 AM to 10 PM. Saturday and Sunday 60-minute service.

    Route 506
    The route 506 is a proposed new route. The purposes of this route are that is to integrate the community with the future Airport TRAX line, shuttle employees to the employment centers along North Temple, act as a community shuttle along 600 North. It is a partial replacement for the routes 519 and 520. The route would travel out of Salt Lake Central Station, East on 200 South to 600 West, North on 600 West to 100 South, East on 100 South to 500 West, North on 500 West, continuing on to the proposed extension of 500 West between 50 N and 300 N, East on 300 North to 400 West, North on 400 West to 600 North, West on 600 North, continuing West on 700 North to 2200 West, South on 2200 West to North Temple, East on North Temple to 1950 West, North on 1950 West, turning around at 250 North, South on 1950 West to North Temple, East on North Temple to Garside St, North on Garside Street to Cornell Street, terminating at Cornell St. Then the reverse for the opposing direction.

    Frequency/trips: Weekday 30-minute service from 6 Am to 7 PM with 60-minute service from 7 PM to 10 PM. Weekend service to be determined in part by public input.

    The route 510 is a proposed new route. The purposes of this route are that is to integrate the community with the future Airport TRAX line and the FrontRunner, as well as act as a community shuttle along Redwood Road, 1000 North and 900 West It is a partial replacement for the routes 519 and 520. The route would come off of 500 West onto 300 North, East on 300 North to 300 West, South on 300 West to North Temple, West on North Temple to 900 West, North on 900 West to 1000 North, West on 1000 North to Redwood Road, South on Redwood Rd to North Temple, East on North Temple to Garside St, North on Garside Street to Cornell St and then terminate on Cornell St. Then the reverse for the opposing direction.

    Frequency/trips: Weekday 30-minute service from 6 Am to 7 PM with 60-minute service from 7 PM to 10 PM. Weekend service to be determined in part by public input.

    The route 512 is a proposed new route.     Frequency/trips: Weekday 30-minute from 6 AM to 7 PM. Weekend service to be determined in part by public input.

    Route 534
    The route 534 is a proposed new route. The 534 would replace the current 347 fast bus from Herriman and Riverton. The 534 would have the same routing as the route 347, however it would end at the FrontRunner Station in South Jordan at 10200 South and Jordan Gateway and not continue on into Downtown Salt Lake City.Those desiring to go downtown will have to transfer to the FrontRunner.

    Frequency/trips: Weekday service with 3 trips in AM and 3 trips in PM. No weekend service.

    Route 806
    The route 806 an express route, is proposed to be eliminated and replaced with FrontRunner commuter rail service to Salt Lake City and a combination of modified bus routes.
    Route 807
    The route 807 an express route, is proposed to be eliminated and replaced with FrontRunner commuter rail service to Salt Lake City and a combintion of modified bus routes.
    Route 808
    The route 808 an express route, is proposed to be eliminated and service to UVU from south Utah County will be provided by a modified route 805.
    Route 810
    The route 810 an express route, is proposed to be eliminated and replaced with FrontRunner commuter rail service to Salt Lake City.
    Route 817
    The route 817 an express route, is proposed to be eliminated and replaced with FrontRunner commuter rail service to Salt Lake City and route 811.
    Route 805
    The route 805 would service Santaquin Main Street, Payson 800 South P&R, Spanish Fork P&R 1000 North, Provo Station.

    Frequency/Trips: Weekday service with 8 southbound PM trips and 6 northbound AM trips. No Saturday or Sunday Service.

    Route 806
    The route 806 would service Saratoga Springs Redwood Road and Hwy 73 intersection, Saratoga Springs City Offices, Harvest Hills, North Lehi, MATC , and Lehi FrontRunner Station.

    Frequency/Trips: Weekday service 3 westbound PM trips to Saratoga Springs and 3 trips eastbound AM trips to Lehi Station. No Saturday or Sunday Service.

    The route 811 would service Sandy TRAX Station, Lehi Thanksgiving Point Station, MATC, Lehi State Street, American Fork West State Street, Meadows Shopping area, and I-15 Orem UVU.

    Frequency/Trips: Weekday service 30 - 60 minute from 4 AM to 8 PM Saturday 40 - 60 min. service 6 AM to 9 PM. Sunday service with 13 total trips from 9 AM to 8 PM.

    The route 821 would service Payson 800 South P&R, 800 S, Hwy 198, Salem, Spanish Fork Main Street, Center St, 800 East, Springville 400 South, 400 East, 400 North, Main St, 1400 N. Mountain Springs Area, Provo Novell, and Provo Station.

    Frequency/Trips: Weekday 30 minute peak/ 60 minute off-peak service from 6 AM to 9 PM. Saturday service every 2 hours from 7 AM to 7:30 PM. No Sunday Service.

    The route 822 would service Payson 800 South P&R, 800 S, Hwy 198, Salem, Spanish Fork Main Street, Center St, 800 East, Springville 400 South, 400 East, 400 North, Main St, Provo State St, 900 E, BYU, and Orem UVU.

    Frequency/Trips: Weekday service with 3 northbound AM trips to BYU and UVU from 6 AM to 8 AM and 3 southbound PM trips to Payson 3 PM to 5 PM. No Saturday or Sunday service.

    The route 830 would service Orem FrontRunner Station, UVU, Mt Timp Transit Center, University Mall, Provo 1720 North Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, 1230 N, BYU, 700 N, 400 E, 100 N, University Ave, 920 South to Provo FrontRunner Station.

    Frequency: Weekday service every 15 minutes during peak hours and 30 minutes during off-peak hours from 5 AM to 11 PM. Saturday service every 30 minutes from 7 AM to 10 PM. No Sunday service.

    The route 833 would service Orem FrontRunner Station, Geneva Rd, Provo Geneva Road, West Center Street, 1600 West, 600 So, 1100 West, 1020 So, 920 So, 200 West, Provo FrontRunner Station.

    Frequency/Trips: Weekday 60-minute service from 6 AM to 7:30 PM. Saturday 60-minute service from 7 AM to 7 PM. No Sunday service.

    The route 834 would service Provo FrontRunner Station, 920 So, University Avenue, Riverwoods, 300 West, loop on River Park Dr.

    Frequency/Trips: Weekday 60-minute service from 6 AM to 7:00 PM. Saturday 60-minute service from 7 AM to 7 PM. No Sunday service.

    The route 836 would service Provo, Franklin- Dixon, 500 S, 900 W, 500 N, 500 W, 500 S, 200 W, Provo FrontRunner Station.

    Frequency: Weekday service in a Clockwise loop, with 17 trips every 30 minutes between 6 AM and 9:30 AM and 3 PM and 7 PM. Saturday service in clockwise loops with 14 trips every 30 minutes. No Sunday service.

    The route 842 would service Orem Station, Genva Road, 800 North, 400 East, Center Street, Provo Riverwoods, 300 W, loop on River Park Drive.

    Frequency: Weekday service every 60 minutes from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. No Saturday or Sunday service.

    The flexroute F868 would service American Fork FrontRunner Station, American Fork CBD, American Fork Hospital, LDS Temple, Utah State Developmental Center, Cedar Hills WalMart, Alpine Main Street, Highland City Offices, Alpine Hwy to AF, 9600 North to Lehi, 1200 East Lehi, Meadows Shopping area, American Fork FrontRunner Station.

    Frequency/Trips: Weekday service in clockwise loops with 10 trips from 6 AM to 7 PM. No Saturday or Sunday service.
