What is the planned route for the West Valley TRAX Line?
The line will begin at the existing 2100 South TRAX Station (Central Pointe) in South Salt Lake and will extend 5.1 miles to the southwest. The line will terminate near West Valley City Hall at the community’s future intermodal center. A map of the line can be found by clicking

How will the West Valley TRAX Line interface with the existing TRAX system?
The line will connect with the Sandy/Salt Lake TRAX Line at the Central Pointe Station (2100 South) in South Salt Lake. Once through the station, West Valley trains will continue to the University of Utah.
What if I want to go south toward Sandy City?
Passengers wanting to travel south can transfer at the 2100 South TRAX station from a West Valley train to a Sandy-bound train.
How long is the line?
The line is a 5.1 miles long and features ballasted double tracks.
What areas/attractions will be served by the line?
Several area destinations including the E-Center, Decker Lake Business Park, Valley Fair Mall, Jordan River Parkway and West Valley City Hall will be accessible via the project.
What’s the train frequency on this line?
UTA initially plans to run trains on 15-minute headways, as is the practice for the existing TRAX system. Headways may change to meet increasing ridership demands.
How many stations will be located on the line?
Four stations are planned for the West Valley City TRAX Line including:
- Chesterfield Station
- Decker Lake Station
- E-Center Station
- West Valley City Intermodal Center
These station locations were selected after an evaluation of the following criteria:
- Current development
- Future development plans
- Major destinations/ridership
- City input
- Feasibility
- Available transportation infrastructure and bus accessibility
- Spacing distance
- Environment including wetlands, cultural resources and farmlands
When will the line be completed?
Opening day for the West Valley City TRAX Line is dependent on a variety of factors. However, UTA has committed to completing the project no later than 2015 and it will likely open in 2012 or 2013.
