Electronic Fare Collection
There is a new way to pay your fare on buses and trains. UTA's new electronic fare collection system (EFC) makes riding UTA easier than ever before!
Beginning Jan. 1, 2009, the new system will work with four electronic fare products:
Ed Pass - annual pass issued to students and staff at participating schools ... more
Eco Pass - annual pass issued to employees by participating organizations ... more
Contactless Credit or Debit Cards - American Express, Discover, MasterCard, and Visa contactless cards can be used to pay a single adult cash fare ... more
Ski Pass - certain ski passes and ski resort employee passes work on ski service and specific feeder routes ... more
UTA is planning to roll out many new products for the EFC system in 2009, so if you don't have one of the cards above, check this page regularly for info on what is coming soon.
Tap on. Tap off. When using the new EFC system, be sure to tap on when boarding and tap off when exiting. Card readers will be located at each door on every UTA bus and at the entrances to all TRAX and FrontRunner stations. Tapping on and tapping off sends a message about which routes you use most, so that UTA can better evaluate and improve service.
