Eco Pass FAQ's
Q: Are the passes good today?
A: Yes. Treat the passes like cash and keep them secure.
Q: How do I distribute the passes?
A: Use the distribution log provided to keep track of each pass. The distribution procedure must include printing the employee's name on the pass with permanent marker or pen before handing the pass to the employee. UTA recommends that the individual distributing the passes print each name for consistency.
Q: Do I have to keep a log?
A: Yes. With reasonable notice, your pass procedure and records may be audited by UTA to ensure that the passes are being used, distributed and managed as authorized.
Q: What happens when an employee needs another pass?
A: In your distribution log, identify the pass as either "lost" or "stolen" if a replacement pass is given. Be extremely wary of multiple replacements.
Q: What if my employee loses their pass?
A: In an event of a lost pass, your company may purchase a new pass from UTA for $20.00. You may pass this cost on to the employee. Lost passes that are found on UTA's system will be mailed back to you at no charge.
Q: When employees leave, can I get a replacement pass for the new hire?
A: Yes. You may mail their passes back to UTA for an even exchange. You may choose to require terminated employees to return their passes, or deduct an amount up to the full cost of the pass from their final paycheck if it's not returned.
Q: What happens if UTA confiscates a pass?
A: You will receive a notice of any confiscated passes issued to your company. These stay on file at UTA.
Q: Can I buy another pass for my spouse?
A: No. Extra passes cannot be purchased for family members.
Q: What if I get sick at work and can't take the bus home? Or I have to work late unexpectedly and miss the last train?
A: Guaranteed Ride Home allows you to use your UTA pass benefit in emergency situations where you may be ill or may have to work later than planned. Call BUS-HOME and a UTA customer service representative will verify your situation. They will either help find you another way home on UTA, or a UTA Supervisor or a taxi will come and get you. This benefit is only available if you rode a UTA bus or train into work that same day. You can use this service up to 6 times in a calendar year.
Q: Who should my employees contact if they need help from UTA?
A: For questions, comments, and schedule information call RIDE-UTA (743-3882).
