Landscaping on Univ. Pkwy

BRT station platform work continues in the median near the 400 W. and Main St. intersections. Traffic signal installations continue at 200 E. and between State St. and 800 E.

Eastbound: Storm drain installations and utility relocations continue from 200 E. to State St. (University Crossing). Utility relocations and retaining wall installations continue between State St. and 800 E.

Westbound: Irrigation/landscaping installations continue west of 400 W. Sidewalk and paving tie-ins are planned between 400 W. and 200 W. Parking lot reconstruction continues and roadway excavation and road base placement are planned at the Garff Honda dealership. Storm drain installation continues from 200 E. to State St. (Carillon Square). Parking lot storm drain and retaining wall installations continue from State St. to 800 E. (University Place). Utility relocations, excavation, storm drain installation and road base placement continue at the 800 E. intersection and eastward on the diagonal.

Traffic Impacts

  • Univ. Pkwy traffic is shifted to the outside lanes between 400 W. and 200 E. Motorists are advised to reduce speeds and watch for lane shifts.
  • Left-turns are permitted only at signalized intersections. Left-turns are not permitted in mid-block sections over solid double yellow lines. Please be safe and make left-turns into businesses only at traffic lights.
  • Business accesses are being maintained. On-street parking has been eliminated.
  • Sidewalk is closed on both sides of Univ. Pkwy between State St. and Main St. in Orem and pedestrians are detoured to 1200 S.

Bus Detours

  • Temporary bus stops on eastbound Univ. Pkwy at 210 W. (by Golden Corral) and 350 E. (by In-N-Out Burger) have been discontinued and a new temporary bus stop has been placed at at 50 W. Univ. Pkwy. Please use caution at this bus stop as the landscaping is not yet complete.

University Parkway Diagonal (800 East, Orem - University Avenue, Provo)

Univ. Pkwy diagonal

Sound wall installation continues on eastbound Univ. Pkwy.

BRT station platform work continues at 550 W.

Water line work is planned next week on 550 W.

Barrier work is planned between the Provo River and Freedom Blvd. and driveway work continues on Freedom Blvd.

Curb/sidewalk/roadway tie-ins continue at the Freedom Blvd. intersection.

Traffic Impacts

  • Traffic is shifted to the outside lanes along the Univ. Pkwy diagonal to accommodate reconstruction in the roadway median. Motorists are advised to reduce speeds (40 MPH speed limit) and watch for lane shifts. Left-turns are permitted into businesses only at signalized intersections.

Trail Impacts

  • The College Connector Trail is closed along the Univ. Pkwy diagonal between 800 E. and Carterville Road. to facilitate roadway widening work at the top of the diagonal.Beginning Monday, May 21, the Connector Trail will also close between the Provo River and Freedom Blvd. for barrier work. Alternate routes are shown on the map below for both closures.
  • Provo River Parkway Trail is open under the University Parkway bridge.

Bus Detours

  • Bus stops in the area of 550 W. University Parkway have been temporarily discontinued, and temporary stops (817036 and 817086) on the detour using 2230 N. are in place.


College Connector Trail closures

FINISHED PRODUCT

When the new bridge and roadway are complete, there will be three traffic lanes in each direction and room for the BRT in the middle. The College Connector bike route will provide bike access throughout this area.

Brigham Young University (900 East)

BRT station work on 900 North, BYU Campus

BRT station platform work continues and curb/sidewalk/roadway restoration is underway on Univ. Pkwy at the stadium/MTC and 900 N./700 E.

Traffic/Sidewalk Impacts

  • Intermittent lane restrictions, flagging operations and sidewalk closures are effective in station work zones through spring 2018.
  • Pedestrians are advised to remain alert while walking near work zones and to follow posted signage, sidewalk detours and flaggers. Mid-block crossings are not permitted. In the MTC area, pedestrians are directed to cross Univ. Pkwy at the 900 E. intersection. Please be safe and follow designated walkways.

700 North Provo (700 North - 500 South)

700 North

BRT station platform work is ongoing at 400 E.

Landscapers are inspecting and testing new sprinkler lines along the project corridor. Property owners and tenants may begin irrigating. Those experiencing issues with sprinkler lines may contact the project hotline (888-661-8806) to schedule an on-site visit.

Traffic Impacts

  • 700 N. is opened to thru-traffic from Univ. Ave. to 700 E. Roadway shoulders remain closed. Motorists are advised to reduce speeds and watch for construction vehicles and equipment.
  • On-street parking is NOT permitted along 700 N. between Univ. Ave. and 700 E. Citations will be issued for vehicles parked in this zone.
  • Pedestrian access is being maintained at intersections. To maintain public safety, pedestrians and bicyclists are advised to stay out of the roadway work zone and remain on the sidewalk and walkways at intersections.

University Avenue Provo (700 North - 500 South)

UVX station work on Univ. Ave. at Provo Library

BRT station work continues in the median between 300 S. and 400 S. Preliminary work for station construction is underway at 600 N.

Beginning Sun., May 20, and continuing through June 22, crews will be conducting night-time roadway pavement grinding and grooving operations on Univ. Ave. between 750 N. and 500 S. to facilitate the subsequent placement of pavement striping.

Southbound: Remaining driveway and irrigation installations are planned between 200 S. and 400 S.

Northbound: Concrete roadway paving and curb/sidewalk/driveway installations continue between Center St. and 400 N.

Traffic Impacts

  • Beginning Sunday, May 20, and continuing through June 22, crews will be conducting night-time roadway pavement grinding and grooving operations on Univ. Ave. between 750 N. and 500 S. to facilitate the subsequent placement of pavement striping. Work times will be Sunday through Thursday from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly. Work will begin in the southbound lanes at 750 N. and progress southward in two-block sections. All travel lanes will closed in the direction crews are working. Residential access will be maintained in the work zone with the assistance of flaggers. Traffic will not be affected in the opposite direction from where work is occurring.
  • The eastern legs of the Univ. Ave. intersections at 100 N. and 300 N. are closed to thru-traffic for reconstruction. No access is permitted to or from Univ. Ave. on the eastern side of both intersections. Detours are marked and business and residential access is maintained via 100 E. Left-turns are prohibited at 200 N.
  • Roadway shoulder closures are effective in the Univ. Ave. work zones and on-street parking is restricted. All travel lanes remain opened and business accesses are being maintained.
  • Alternate business parking areas are shown on the map below. Look for blue public parking signs to direct you to over one-thousand parking spots within a 1-3 minute walk of your downtown destination.

Station platform improvements are underway for bus docks at the Provo Frontrunner station. Bus routing is not affected.


Provo Towne Centre

BRT station platform work continues and curb/sidewalk/roadway restoration are underway.


Traffic Impacts

  • Towne Centre Blvd. is closed just south of 1200 S.and detours are posted.

Bus Detours

UTA bus stops in front of JC Penney are temporarily relocated to 1200 S. and slightly to the north of 1200 S. on Towne Centre Blvd. (see map below)
