When Adam Ferrero isn’t working, spending time with his family or training for triathlons, you might find him pursuing his other hobby – video games. As a staff writer for a leading video game site, Adam gets to preview games before they’re released and attend E3, the world’s premier gaming expo. Adam says his time on FrontRunner gave him the time to explore his passion.

Adam began riding FrontRunner in 2012, after his car was totaled in an accident. For the first few months, he’d pass the Murray-to-Clearfield commute by watching movies or looking at his phone. About a year ago, however, he found a gaming website that was looking for contributors.

“I’ve always had a knack for writing, so I decided to start using the time on the train to write video gaming articles,” Adam said. “I put together a series of four articles and sent it off to the recruiter. A week later, I was hired on to the staff.”

Adam began using his commute to research and write video gaming articles for the site. Soon, his work lead to other opportunities, including helping create a YouTube video at Salt Lake Comic Con and attending video game publishers’ press conferences at E3 2014.

With two kids at home and a job that took him out of the house from 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., Adam said that without his commute, he would have had little time to work on his hobby. Although he recently moved to Clearfield to be closer to work, he still rides the train into downtown to attend gaming events and credits his time on FrontRunner for helping him find a place in the world of gaming.

“I never would have had this opportunity if I had spent that time driving instead of on the train,” Adam said.
