Tomorrow marks the 61st anniversary of Rosa Park's Dec. 1, 1955 arrest for failing to give up her seat to a white passenger on a Montgomery, Alabama city bus. Parks’ act of nonviolent civil disobedience helped spark the Montgomery bus boycott and is recognized as one of the landmark moments in the nation’s civil rights movement.

UTA is commemorating Parks’ legacy Thursday, Dec. 1, at Salt Lake Central Station. Visit us between 10 and 11 a.m. to see our vintage General Motors bus outfitted with information about Parks’ work for equality and the role public transportation played in the civil rights movement. The bus is similar to actual 1948 GM Montgomery City Bus Lines vehicle now located at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan.

UTA values diversity in its customers and employees and strives to provide equal public transportation access to all riders, regardless of ability, race, ethnicity or economic background. Thank you for supporting us in our efforts to provide efficient, accessible transportation to all residents of the Wasatch Front.
