UTA Service Impact Recognized Utah Transportation Conference

The Utah Transit Authority (UTA) came away from the 2023 Utah Transportation Conference with several awards for the agency’s service to the community.

The conference, held from Oct. 24 through Oct. 26, 2023, at the Mountain America Expo Center, brought transportation industry professionals together for three days of educational sessions and networking opportunities. It also provided an opportunity to recognize exceptional individuals and organizations within the industry for outstanding performance in the field of transportation.

Shaina Quinn, UTA’s Program Manager for Innovative Mobility Solutions, received the Good Health Through Transportation Award for her work on UTA On Demand. The new Vineyard FrontRunner Station received the same award, which is given in recognition of efforts to promote the health of individuals and communities, such as active transportation improvements, improving environmental conditions (air and water quality), or other elements contributing to greater public health through transportation solutions.

UTA also received the Keeping Utah Moving Through Better Mobility Award for the new Ogden Express (OGX), a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system which runs from Frontrunner’s Ogden Central Station across the city, and connects with downtown businesses and attractions, Ogden High School, the Weber State University campus and McKay-Dee Hospital.

The award recognizes an individual or team addressing a large traffic event, responding to a natural disaster, or implementing an innovative method or asset that improves mobility for all users, or a project that emphasizes improving mobility for any mode of transportation.

An independent panel of judges also decided to honor UTA with the Strengthening the Economy Through Transportation Award. This award also recognized OGX for strengthening Utah’s economy through transportation by improving access to goods and services, enacting transportation-related policy that invigorates economic activity, enhancing economic vibrancy of neighborhoods or communities, or making other efforts that promote economic activity through transportation solutions.
