UTA to Host IOC on TRAX; Discuss Transit Readiness for Potential Salt Lake City Olympic Winter Games 2034
WHAT: Utah Transit Authority (UTA) Executive Director Jay Fox, along with SLC-UT 2034 officials, will be available for media interviews to answer questions about UTA public transit plans, and how they relate to moving locals and the world at a potential 2034 Olympic Winter Games.
The interview will be immediately following UTA’s transit-readiness briefing with the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) Future Host Commission and U.S. Olympic & Paralympic leaders aboard a special UTA/Olympic-wrapped TRAX train. The “Ready to Move the World Again” images will stay on the special TRAX cars until the hopeful Olympic bid announcement on July 24.

WHEN/VISUALS: Wednesday, April 10, 2024, open time 4-4:35 p.m.
- Media who want the visual of the IOC disembarking the TRAX ride and walking to the Delta Center should arrive no later than 4:05 p.m.
- Train arrives at ~4:15 p.m. and will immediately depart after riders disembark (about 1 min stop). The train is wrapped in a UTA/Olympics theme that says, “Ready to Move the World Again.”
- Open interview with UTA Executive Director Jay Fox in the Delta Center plaza facing the TRAX station from ~4:15-4:35 p.m. Mayor Erin Mendenhall and SLC-UT 2034 members in the visual.
