Utah Valley Express Celebrates Five Years of Connecting Communities

The Utah Transit Authority (UTA) is proud to announce the fifth anniversary celebration of its Utah Valley Express (UVX) line. To commemorate this anniversary, a special birthday celebration is planned for today, Tuesday, October 17, at the Orem Central and Provo Central Stations from 4 to 6 p.m. The event will include exciting activities, swag and prizes, and an opportunity for riders and supporters to come together and share their “UVX-periences.”

UVX began service on August 13, 2018. As a vital mode of transportation, UVX has been instrumental in bridging the gap between communities, educational institutions, and local residents.

Since its launch, UVX has been a cornerstone of accessibility in the Provo-Orem area, serving as a reliable link for students, faculty, and staff to two prominent universities, as well as providing quick and reliable transit for the local population. The bus service has played a significant role in reducing traffic congestion, promoting sustainable travel options, and fostering connections among residents. UVX has proven to be a success and is on its way to reach its 10 millionth rider this year. “We are immensely proud of UVX and are committed to continuously enhancing the travel experience for our passengers," said Mary De La Mare-Schaefer, regional general manager of the Timpanogos Service Unit.

The accomplishments of UVX have not gone unnoticed. The exceptional growth and positive impact of the service has captured attention from transit agencies across the country. UVX serves as a trailblazer, paving the way for the incorporation of more Bus Rapid Transit lines in transit systems nationwide.

The UTA team extends its heartfelt gratitude to the community, passengers, and partners for their unwavering support, which has been instrumental in making UVX a success over the past five years.
