In continuing our efforts to be good stewards of current rail infrastructure, we have one more rail replacement project coming up. From June 29 through July 7, UTA will be replacing 20-year old rail between Arena and Temple Square TRAX stations in downtown Salt Lake City.

Construction crews will be working 24 hours a day over those nine days to complete this project as quickly as possible. Volunteers in orange UTA vests will be located at City Center, Temple Square, Arena and North Temple Stations to help riders get to their destination.

Here are a few quick tips on how to get around during the construction:

  • If you’re heading to and from FrontRunner or the airport there will be a shuttle bus that goes directly between Temple Square Station and North Temple Station and vice-versa.
  • If you’re going between Temple Square Station and Arena Station there will be a bus shuttle or you can take a short walk between these stations.
  • For drivers, South Temple will be reduced to one lane between West Temple and 400 West. We encourage you to use North Temple or 100 South for east-west travel.

Other than the break between Arena and Temple Square Stations for TRAX Blue and Green Lines, our system will be running as usual. For more in-depth instructions for riders and drivers, please see our Construction page.

As we did during our Main Street and 400 South Rail Replacement Project in May we will provide you with reminders and updates about the construction through UTA’s Twitter and Facebook.

And if you’re not down with the social, our Customer Service Agents are glad to answer any questions you might have over the phone at 801-743-3882, Monday through Saturday, 6am to 7pm.

Thanks to our riders, downtown drivers and local businesses for their cooperation in helping us create a smoother and safer public transit experience in Utah. After this project is complete, we hope to celebrate with all of you at a downtown event. Stay tuned for more information.
