The 72nd NBA All-Star Game is right around the corner and Downtown Salt Lake City will be welcoming more than 100,000 visitors throughout this next week! To celebrate, local city partners will be offering numerous pop-up markets, entertainment, and basketball-related programming — from Downtown Alliance to the Salt Lake County Library.

To make things a little easier for visitors and locals alike, UTA is offering two zero fare promotions- a ticket-as-fare for all of February with proof of your airline boarding pass and zero fare from Sunday, February 12th through Tuesday, February 21st.

AND… UTA is providing additional service starting February 14th. This includes more frequency, later service, and special routes to connect downtown hotels, the Vivint Arena, and Huntsman Center. If you’d like more info on zero fare and our service check out our previous All-Star blog

You might be feeling overwhelmed by all the hubbub around All-Star week. Here are three ways you can enjoy this big event while taking UTA.

1. Participate in NBA events.

The NBA and the Utah Jazz are hosting numerous events for all ages and at various prices. You can watch the practice or see Pit Bull in concert. See a full list of those events.

2. Quality family time.

Sometimes public transit fare can be a hindrance to getting the whole family out on FrontRunner or TRAX, whether it’s financially or logistically. With that removed with the zero fare promotion, we encourage you to hop aboard and bring everyone! A couple fun places to explore are the new Utah Jazz Catapult exhibit at the Discovery Children’s Museum and some of the activities out at Salt Lake County Libraries. In addition to places to go, you can expect some "on-train" entertainment from JOYMOB on the Blue Line between Gallivan and Planetarium Stations from 6pm-10pm, February 17th, 18th and 19th.

3. Stay out late!

Starting Thursday, February 17th through Sunday, February 19th, TRAX and FrontRunner will be operating the following morning until about 2 a.m. So go downtown, dine out, see a show, or savor that cocktail — we’ll be running service!

And a reminder, if you head out Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday for a Valentine’s Date Night via UTA make sure to share your #TransitDateNight with us on Instagram for a chance to win a UTA swag bag.

Bonus:

4. Just chill.

Crowds and loud venues aren’t everyone's jam. If you’d like to take it a little easier, get on FrontRunner with a book and head to Provo or go north and enjoy Ogden’s 25th Street or take a bus route you’ve never tried; see what’s possible.

Check out these other lists if you’d like more ideas on what to do during All-Star week.
