Happy Women’s History Month! To honor women’s history, particularly those in Utah, we’ve outlined nine ways to learn more about history, connect with women in the community, and celebrate throughout the month.

Learn

Universities along the Wasatch Front are great resources to learn more and further the conversation about women’s roles in shaping the past and the present — plus… they are served by UTA.

1 - The University of Utah — The U is hosting a series of events through its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Office. They conclude on March 3, so check them out now.
Served by TRAX Red Line and several bus routes.

2 - Utah Valley UniversityWomen’s History Keynote on March 13th
Served by FrontRunner Orem Central Station and UVX (free) UVU Station.

3 - Utah Division of State History @ South Jordan LibraryCelebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories on March 18th
Served by FrontRunner South Jordan Station, UTA On Demand, and bus route 218.

4 - Utah Film CenterOnline accessible film recommendations with accompanying study guides for youth.

Connect

5 - Join — Consider joining a women’s professional group, or encourage a peer to do so. Women-centric professional associations are great ways for women to support other women in their careers. Locally, and specifically for transportation, we have the Northern Utah Chapter of WTS International.

6 - Mentor — If you are a woman further along in your career, consider supporting a woman earlier in her career. Just being open to questions or lunch dates can go a long way to supporting future leaders.

Celebrate

7 - Host an Event — Consider planning an event at your workplace to celebrate your women-identified colleagues, or bring a speaker to deepen your organization's collective understanding of women’s roles in shaping Utah, your industry, or your profession.

8 - Send an Appreciation Note — A few simple words to acknowledge a role model, friend, or co-worker can go a long way. Showing gratitude is a meaningful gesture if they’ve helped you through a tough time, or maybe you just admire certain qualities about them and don’t say so enough. While you’re at it, spare a few words of praise for yourself!

9 - Stay Tuned! — Throughout the month of March, follow along as we feature some of the 615 women who help UTA succeed, and see how #WomenMoveUTA.
