Welcome, dear reader.

Your story starts here, on a platform, at a crosswalk, on a train that’s about to pull away. You are the author of this story, and like any good story, this one involves choices.

Did you wait behind the yellow line? Look both ways before you crossed? Take out your headphones when approaching a rail crossing?

Some choices seem small, but even small choices determine how the story ends.

So before your story moves any further down the tracks, let's meet a few characters who might show up along the way, the ones who’ll be there if your story hits a fork in the road and guide you through a few plot twists worth avoiding altogether.

These signs are beside you on your journey, whether you're driving, walking, biking, or hoverboarding. When it's time to cross a railroad, they hold the clues to help you decide your next step. Some guide, some warn, some simply remind you they're there. Heed them, and they'll help write you a better ending. Meet them all here and call on them in your next chapter.



So you’ve heeded the signs, turned the page, and now, dear reader, you find yourself on a UTA platform.

The vibes are impeccable, this playlist is fire — but wait! That’s coming from your headphones, but you know the true melody of the moment is the sweet, sweet hum of the rail and choo-choo of the arriving train. You tuck them away. Smart move, dear reader. Every good writer knows their ears are part of the story too.

To your left, you notice a Transit Ambassador speaking with a fellow rider. You hear a string of numbers drifting your way: “801-287-3937....these are for the UTA Police, who are here to keep you safe.” You file it away, save it for a rainy day.

To your right, a family with small children. Your heartbeat quickens as a young one approaches the yellow line. Phew, you think as the father guides her to stand behind it. A small moment, but in this story, small moments are the ones that matter most.

Behind you, a teen with a skateboard. “Smart,” you whisper as he stops at the platform entrance, choosing to pick the skateboard up and carry it over to the TVM instead of riding it. Another small choice, but another line well written.

The train is here. The doors slide open, passengers step off, and you step on. You find a seat and let out a breath you didn't know you were holding — and that's when you notice it: a small button near the door, marked for emergencies. You've never had to press it. You hope you never will. But dear reader, you now know it's there, waiting quietly, just in case your story ever needs it.

You’ve come so far, dear reader, and yet this is just the beginning.

Every day you tap your FAREPAY Card, walk to a platform, or step on a train, you’re writing another page in your chapter, and so is everyone around you. Your choices not only determine your story, but also the stories of everyone sharing the rails with you.
