Football season has commenced! It’s a busy time of tailgating, good eats, cheering and high emotions. Throw transit into your football festivities to make it that much more fun and easy.
As Utah Transit Authority has done in the past, we will be providing extra service and working closely with the University of Utah to help move patrons to and from the game quickly and safely. Here are a few things to keep in mind to make the most of your football + transit experience.
Before the Game
If you’re setting up your tailgating the day before the game, consider taking transit home from the stadium. If you’re not a regular transit rider you can easily grab a one-way fare via UTA GoRide.
Check out @RideUTA on your favorite social channel to find the posted schedule for a particular game, favorite it, save it, and keep it handy.
Day of the game, U of U game tickets count as fare on UTA FrontRunner, TRAX, bus and S-line for the entire day. Of course, if you’re a student at the U, Westminster College, Salt Lake Community College or other schools your student ID card allows you free travel on the UTA system all the time.
During the Game
Tell all your friends how great it was taking transit to the game and help them figure out how to get their next destination using Transit.
After the Game
Make your way out the Rice-Eccles Stadium and head to the TRAX Stadium Station to catch the Red Line or if you need to head directly to Salt Lake Central, grab a UTA bus shuttle parked on University Street (1400 E) just north of South Campus Drive (400 S) adjacent to the TRAX station. Now that the pregame jitters have subsided, consider trying out one of our new Frequent Transit Network buses. Routes 2, 9, 21 all now run every 15 minutes, Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. connecting you favorite shops, arts, bars, and restaurants downtown (Route 2), 9th and 9th neighborhood (Route 9), and Sugar House (Route 21).
